In 2014, returns to Bonneville Dam were the highest since counts began more than 70 years ago. Salmon and steelhead returns have been trending up in recent years.

  • Welcome Home, Salmon!

On Sept. 30, 2014, tribal and federal agency leaders and other river users gathered at Bonneville Dam to welcome back the salmon and celebrate the collaboration that has helped significantly boost the number of salmon returning to Northwest rivers and streams.

These partnerships, along with favorable ocean conditions, improved passage, successful hatchery programs, and habitat restoration are contributing to this year’s abundant returns.
